Body Language Secrets That Will Get You Through Any Airline Interview
Research shows that 55% of communication is body language, 38% is tone of voice, and only 7% is the actual words you say. In a cabin crew interview, this is critical. Here is how to master non-verbal communication.

**THE ENTRY**
How you walk in matters. Shoulders back, head up, natural smile, purposeful stride. Do not shuffle or look at the floor. You are entering as a professional, not a student.

**THE HANDSHAKE**
Firm — not limp, not crushing. Make eye contact during the handshake. Two-three pumps, then release.

**SITTING POSTURE**
Sit on the front two-thirds of the chair. Never slouch back. Spine straight but not stiff. Hands folded lightly in your lap or on the table.

**EYE CONTACT**
Maintain natural eye contact — not staring, not darting away. When answering questions in a panel, briefly connect with each member. This shows confidence and inclusivity.

**HAND GESTURES**
Use open palm gestures when making points — they signal honesty. Avoid pointing, crossing arms, or fidgeting with jewellery. Keep gestures in the "gesture box" (waist to shoulder level).

**THE SMILE**
Not a permanent, forced grin — a natural, warm smile. Cabin crew need to make passengers feel welcome. Show the interviewer you can do that.

**CONTROLLING NERVOUSNESS**
Deep breath before entering. Visualise yourself succeeding. If your hands shake, fold them in your lap. If your voice trembles, slow down and breathe.

**THE EXIT**
As important as the entry. Thank each interviewer by name. Walk out calmly and confidently. Your interview is not over until you are out of the building.

At Flying Wings Academy, we run dedicated body language workshops as part of every course — because we know how much it matters.
